Miami-Dade County has informed the Town of Surfside that it intends to demolish the remaining standing structure at the Champlain Towers South in the next 24 to 36 hours. No specific time for the demolition has been provided. Miami-Dade Police will be going door to door in the surrounding buildings in the evacuation zone to make notifications on mandatory evacuations in advance of the demolition. No one will be allowed in the buildings to the immediate north and south of the Champlain Towers South site.
